Bays Brewery began in March 2007 when Will Freeland, Mark Salmon and Peter Salmon joined forces and signed a lease on an old 5000 square foot steel fabrication unit in Paignton. More info about our team below:

Will Freeland – Head Brewer

Will has been the Head Brewer at Skinners Brewery in Truro for the last 10 years and has extensive experience in the brewing business as well as an excellent reputation for producing first class award winning ale.

Will is married to Mark and Pete’s sister Mel and they have one son, Sam.

Steve Eastley – Assistant Brewer

Steve has over twenty years manufacturing experience with local companies to include Bookham Technology and AVX Ltd. His roles have involved setting up production lines, problem solving and general maintenance.

Steve is married to Amalia. She works as a pharmacist technician at South Devon Healthcare.

Mark Salmon – Business Manager

Mark has over 10 years experience as the Managing Director of SSG, a well established and successful training and consultancy company in Plymouth and will be supporting the Brewery in ensuring that it’s ambitious and exciting plans are achieved.

Mark is married to Sally and they have 2 young daughters – Amy and Zoe.

Peter Salmon – Sales and Marketing Manager

Peter was an advertising executive at Mediacom in London for 14 months, before relocating back to Devon. Prior to this Peter achieved a masters degree (with distinction!!) in Marketing and Management at Loughborough University.

Pete lives with his girlfriend Antonia in Paignton. Antonia has recently starred in the movie St Trinians!

Jo Pottinger – Office Administrator

Jo brings a vast amount of experience to the company after working for the UK’s second largest brewer for 10 years. During this time her roles included office manager and warehouse shift manager.

Jo has lived in Torbay for 15 years and is married to Lee. Lee has taken Jo’s old job as Warehouse Manager for Carlsberg!
